During the time of the Administrative Office, this building was the residence of lower ranking officials known as jitsuki-doshin from Hyogo-no-tsu. When the Hyogo Administrative Office was established, three doshin officials relocated from Hida-Takayama, and each was given a space within the office grounds. The size of each space was predetermined at around 165 m2, and officials would live here with their families while undertaking patrols and other work. It is thought that the residences of kinban-yoriki and kinban-doshin officials were in a separate location from the Administrative Office.
